A week ago, Kechara Media & Publications English Chief Editor, Jamie Khoo and supporting friends, Liaisons Susan Lim, Sharon Saw, Ngeow Voon Chin and Yap Yoke Fui went up to Kolej Yayasan UEM to participate in an inter-faith dialogue.

Centred around the theme “The Basis of Religious Beliefs” the dialogue aimed to provide the college students with a better understanding of different faiths and to encourage open discussions about religion. Jamie spoke about Buddhism, alongside three other Christian, Muslim and Hindu speakers. There was encouraging dialogue and discussion between panel speakers and the students, who asked many thought-provoking questions and inspired many new ideas and thoughts.

KH members also a special opportunity to meet with the small Buddhist community of the college. As there are very few Buddhists, the support for their practice is not very strong so our trip there helped to provide them with some information and answer questions. From our side, this dialogue and interaction gave us an opportunity to share what we had learnt all these years and to introduce Rinpoche’s teachings to the students.

It was great exposure and a wonderful learning experience, not just for the students, but also for all of us old hacks!
