Kechara House is a Buddhist Centre founded in 2000 by His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche of Gaden Shartse Monastery to avail the ancient wisdom of Buddha’s teachings to practitioners in Malaysia and the surrounding regions. Buddha’s wisdom has timeless and universal relevance, and can be practiced by anyone in any culture, regardless of nationality, gender, or age.
Why has Rinpoche chosen Malaysia? Rinpoche has been visiting Malaysia since 1992 and has grown to love Malaysia and her people – “I love this country and her beautiful people. Malaysians have been kind, warm, generous and caring. I sincerely appreciate them and wish to reciprocate by benefiting them and contributing to their country”.

The creation of Kechara House is to assist people improve the quality of life by developing inner peace, love, wisdom and happiness. Buddha's teachings and the inner realization of them constitute Buddhism.
Kechara House embraces teachings that were passed down in an unbroken lineage from Buddha Shakyamuni (624-540 BC) to Atisha (982-1054), and then to Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419). Je Tsongkhapa was the most important figure in the history of Buddhism. He was one of the most creative of many illustrious writers, philosophers and scholar-yogis to grace the Land of Snows.
